EU: Iran Must Fully Comply With IAEA
Published: Feb 22, 2012
BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--Iran must fully comply with the International Atomic Energy Agency over its nuclear program, a spokesman for the European Commission said Wednesday.
"Iran has to fulfill and fully cooperate with the IAEA and resolve all outstanding issues," said a spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
Inspectors from the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency had sought this week to visit a military site south of Iran, called Parchin, that the IAEA believes might be involved in research to develop atomic weapons. A charge Iran has denied.
The spokesman said the EU expects to see a full IAEA report on Iran's co-operation by the end of this week or early next week.
Iran's chief nuclear negotiator on Feb. 14 responded to a letter from Ashton inviting Iran to restart talks again on its nuclear program.
The EU is still considering its response with its international partners.
