PSEG planning 400 MW of new gas-fired generation

Oct 24, 2007

NEW YORK, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Power company Public Service Enterprise Group (PEG.N) said on Wednesday it plans to build up to 400 megawatts of new gas-fired generation.

The new capacity would be in the PJM, one of the largest power grid regions in the United States, encompassing parts of the Eastern Seaboard, and could come on-line as early as 2010.

PSEG said it has requested that PJM perform a feasibility study to determine its ability to add up to a total of 1,000 MW at some of its existing generation stations.

The cost to build about 300 MW to 400 MW of generation capacity could be in the range of $250 million to $350 million, said the company. (Reporting by Lisa Lee)
