Forecaster Sees Volatile US Weather In Late Feb

Feb 08, 2010

[Dow Jones] A "volatile weather regime" is expected along the East Coast and across the southern half of the country from late February into early March, according to Jim Rouiller, senior energy meteorologist for the private forecasting firm Planalytics. Rouiller sees temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern New England reaching 2-4 degrees below normal with chances for additional winter storms. Temperatures in the Midwest and Great Lakes will be "punctuated by brief two to three day periods of unseasonably cold temperature conditions," Rouiller wrote. Nymex March gas futures settled down 11.4 cents, or 2.07% at $5.401/MMBtu.
