NE US Temps Normal To Below By Mid-Feb - NOAA

Feb 01, 2010

[Dow Jones]--NOAA, in its Jan 31 monthly outlook for Feb, officially gives an "equal chances" designation for the Northeast US, meaning that in the world's largest heating oil market, there are equal odds in the month for normal, above-normal or below-normal temperatures. The 6-10 day forecast, covering Feb 6-10 shows normal temps throughout the region, with above-normal temps in Maine. But the 8-14 day forecast, covering Feb 8-14, shows temps dropping to below normal in the region, while Maine stays above normal. Although Feb outlook calls for above-normal temps in Pacific NW, the shorter-term outlooks through Feb 14 show normal temps in the region. Below-normal temps from Texas Gulf through Florida and up to Delaware, expected for all of Feb, already have kicked in, the short-term forecasts show.
